The American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009 provided a temporary increase for certain employer-provided transportation fringe benefits. For months beginning after February 17, 2009 and before January 1, 2012, the monthly limitation for commuter highway vehicle and any transit pass was the same amount as the amount for qualified parking. However, effective January 1, 2012, the temporary increase no longer applies. Below are the current transportation reimbursement limits:
Commuter Highway Vehicle (Vanpooling)
The monthly dollar amount that an employee may be reimbursed to cover this expense is $125.00.
Transit Pass
The monthly dollar amount that an employee may be reimbursed to cover this expense is $125.00.
Qualified Parking
The monthly dollar amount that an employee may be reimbursed to cover this expense is $240.00
